The other day I was talking with my husband Steve about our lives and how much everything has changed over the past few years. I began to tell him how different our lives are from five years ago and before I could get the words out, I realized that we are in the same situation we were five years ago. For example, we are living in the same place (Connecticut), attending the same church (Bethel Christian Church), we are even involved in the same ministries that we were five years ago. God has brought us through a lot in the past five years including moving to Iowa for two years to learn some lessons, but now He has brought us back.
I realized that God is giving us a second chance. The first time around we made a lot of mistakes. Granted, a lot of the mistakes needed to be made so that we could learn from them, but nonetheless we did make a lot of them. When I realized that we are in the same situation we were five years ago, it hit me that God is allowing us to have a fresh start with the situation, to do it right this time. Obviously, we won’t get everything correct, and there will be mistakes, but He is allowing us a second chance to do it right.
Wow! Who else would give you a second chance when you’ve already messed it up once? I am so excited to know that God isn’t only the God of second chances, but also of third, fourth, fifth, etc. chances. He will never give up on me no matter what I do. I am so excited to see what God is going to do in our lives!

Hi Karen,
I was so blessed reading your comments! I don't really know what a blog is but I'm trying to get these comments to you! I'm giving the Christian Life talk for JOY in Oct and just reading your comments gave me so many ideas of things to share with the men! Thanks! I hope you and your family receive 'unprecendented' blessings!!
I like this one for sure. Being a person that's pretty much spent the last 10 years making every mistake possible "meaning well". I've learned a lot.
For example, I too was at Bethel for a time years ago. Now I'm back, and just now venturing into things again. Terrified I mess things up again...
I also almost went to FIRE years ago, interestingly enough I would have met Charles and Jenny then, which means I could have been friends with them for years now...
Regardless, as much as the second chances are so beautiful, sometimes I wonder if my first chances were "purposefully messed up". If He canceled something I stumbled upon (or would have) "too early" and would never appreciated like I do and will now.
Kind of like Moses trying to help His people out and mediate, and screwing it up. Only years later to be used to come back and liberate them? Who would've thought if he couldn't mediate between to humans, he would then end up mediating between GOD and a people; even to them point of saving them from being destroyed.
Second chances are amazing, but wouldn't it be amazing (and oddly haunting) if God was actually saving you guys for "such a time as this" (or whatever line is cliche UNTIL it becomes REVELATION) to come back and be a part of an awakening that has already begun and will start being even clearer in the coming days?
I know my situations have been different in just about every way from yours, but I'm somehow humbled and honored, as I'm sure you three are.
Myk
I am really glad that God brought you back!
He is great. Not only is he a God of multiple chances, but a God of support, guidance and teaching.
He will always be there for us for support and comfort no matter what. Be it financial, physical, or spiritual. Any problem, any hardship, anything and everything at all is made easier when you lean on Him for support.
He will also bring us to where we need to be, and just as importantly, He will bring us there when we need to be there. He knows that people grow through experience. He has a plan for each and everyone of us. He knows how we can grow best. Where our roots need to be, and when we need to be transplanted.
And through His support and guidance we grow and learn about those around us, ourselves, and Him.
